Based in Washington DC, Grace Shie leads the firm’s Chambers-ranked Global Mobility & Migration practice. For over twenty years, she has advised multinational companies on cross-border employee mobility and use of available work permit and visa categories to meet the hiring and training needs of a global workforce. Grace represents a broad base of clients, from Fortune Global 500 firms operating in multiple jurisdictions, to start-ups and new market entrants. Her clients operate in a variety of industry sectors, including financial services and banking, asset management and insurance, technology and communications, security and defense, engineering and manufacturing, life sciences, and retail.
The immigration and mobility services Grace provides include:
• Design and management of global mobility programs to achieve talent management goals;
• Strategic use of the full array of temporary work authorization (e.g., H-1B, L-1, and O-1 in the United States) and permanent residency options to support organizational staffing needs, with focus on senior executives and high skilled workers;
• Preparing employers for immigration audits, worksite enforcement actions, and other immigration compliance challenges;
• Advising on the intersection of immigration, employment, and tax considerations when planning cross-border staffing, remote work arrangements, and new market entry; and
• Facilitating employee transitions in the context of M&A transactions and other major corporate change, including minimizing the impact to in-scope visa holders while maintaining employer compliance.
