Mark is a partner with over 30 years of experience in the maritime and legal sectors, including time as a ship’s captain. He specialises in transactional shipping and offshore energy matters across the life of an asset, including construction, conversion, long term chartering and service contracts, sale & purchase (including of vessels under construction), and recycling across a wide range of vessels and offshore energy assets including FPSOs, FLNGs, drilling units, wind turbine installation vessels, ice breakers, superyachts and more.
Mark has significant expertise in negotiating and documenting maritime transactions and large-scale offshore projects in numerous jurisdictions (including advising on ownership structures, financing, chartering, and vessel operations).
Examples of his recent work include advising national governments on export credit financing for newbuild ferries and patrol boats, acting for investment funds in vessel and drilling unit acquisitions and disposals, acting for buyers and sellers of on field FPSOs and representing shipbuilders/contractors and owners in very high value and technically complex shipbuilding, engineering, construction, installation and commissioning contracts. He is also experienced in drafting pro-forma agreements (including ship sale agreements, shipbuilding contracts and vessel recycling contracts) for major global clients and sits on the drafting sub-committee for the BIMCO RECYCLECON.
