Career
Laura Heusel focuses her practice on environmental diligence, environmental permitting and regulatory issues, and environmental litigation. Laura brings to her legal practice years of experience as a professional engineer in both the public and private sectors. With this, she applies a practical mindset to help clients navigate the technical rigors of environmental regulations and find cost-effective solutions to today’s regulatory challenges. Laura’s experience ranges from the boardroom -- where she represents wastewater and solid waste managers and conducts environmental due diligence for large mergers and acquisitions, to the courtroom -- where she recently argued a Clean Water Act Citizen Suite to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and to the classroom -- as Adjunct Professor in Environmental Law at Mississippi College School of Law. She has former experience as a Judicial extern for the Honorable Neil P. Olack in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, and Law Clerk for the United States Department of Justice, Environment and Natural Resources Division, Washington, D.C. Laura is also a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Mississippi.

Laura obtained her J.D. from the Mississippi College School of Law where she received awards for her staff contributions to the Mississippi College Law Review and best paper awards in legal writing, appellate advocacy, environmental law, trial practice, and professional responsibility. She obtained her Masters of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Mississippi and is an avid speaker, presenter, and writer. Laura is admitted to the Mississippi & Alabama State Bars.
