Kurt is the global head of the Restructuring and Insolvency Group, he is a member of the firm’s Financial Industry Group, and he has more than 25 years of experience in restructuring and related litigation.
Kurt has served as a court-appointed expert, a court-appointed examiner, and a court-appointed trustee in Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases. In addition, Kurt has represented secured creditors, indenture trustees, creditors’ committees, debtors, and other parties in interest in bankruptcy cases throughout the United States, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
Kurt is a 1992 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He was a Senior Editor of the Journal of International Business Law and a winner of Penn's Edwin R. Keedy Cup Moot Court Competition. Kurt received his B.A., summa cum laude, in Political Science, with a minor in Business Administration, from the University of Central Florida in 1988. He was an Academic All American in 1986 (football).
Upon graduating from law school, Kurt served as a law clerk to the Honorable Bruce Fox of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
