Kenneth Smersfelt

Ken’s practice focuses on handling complex litigation, class actions, and alternative dispute resolution. He plays a key role in defending prominent companies in the health care, consumer products, and financial services sectors against various claims such as breach of contract, bad faith, negligence, unfair competition, false advertising and fraud.

Ken has a proven track record of successfully defending clients against regulatory bodies, government agencies, and prosecutors. He is highly skilled in navigating jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations to secure favorable outcomes for his clients. Ken excels at creative and prompt resolution of complicated disputes, both privately and, when appropriate, as class action settlements.

Ken is the former managing partner of Reed Smith’s Los Angeles office and continues to be a leader in California and across the firm. He enjoys and dedicates time mentoring and training junior lawyers. Ken's dedication to the legal profession is evident through his involvement in professional organizations. He served on the Board of Governors of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and held the position of chair for the organization's Public Service Committee, further demonstrating his commitment to public service and the advancement of the legal community.
