Career

José co-heads the M&A and Private Equity groups at the Firm. His professional practice focuses on M&A, financings and real estate projects. He has acted as a legal advisor to institutional investors as well as local and international corporations in complex acquisitions. He also advises financial institutions on their lending activities in Mexico.

He is an active officer in the International Bar Association’s Latin American Regional Forum. He is recognized as an expert and leading lawyer by renowned international publications, such as Chambers Latin American Guide and Chambers Global Guide, in the Corporate/M&A practice. He is also in The Legal 500 Latin American Guide’s “Hall of Fame” for the same practice. IFLR1000 and Latin Lawyer recognize him as one of the leading M&A practitioners in Mexico. Leaders League recognizes him as a leader in the Banking and Finance practice.

José has a Law Degree from Escuela Libre de Derecho (Mexico City) as well as a postgraduate degree in Legal Aspects of Investment. He has a Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M.) and a postgraduate degree in Business Administration from Georgetown University. He remains academically active as a visiting professor for Universidad Panamericana.

He has international experience working as a foreign associate at Cleary Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, in the Washington, D.C. and New York offices.

Strongly committed to Pro Bono, José serves on the board of various non-profit organizations focused on education and vulnerable communities in Mexico.

José is Co-Managing Partner of the Firm and member of the Executive and Compensation Committees.
