Career

Guillermo gets his deals closed.

He is a capital markets and finance lawyer through and through. He started working for clients in the financial industry even before opening his own savings account.

Clients reach out to Guillermo when they are looking for an experienced, reliable lawyer that anticipates their needs and communicates well.

Guillermo always finds a way to participate in the most relevant and innovative transactions. He has the privilege to advise some of the largest and finest companies in Mexico. On the bank side, he represents all the first-tier banks doing business in Mexico. He is also recognized as leader in Mexico in sustainable-linked financings and integrates the ESG team.

Guillermo is passionate about cultural expressions and diversity issues. As part of his Pro Bono efforts, he works with Alondra de la Parra in projects for the promotion of Mexican music.

Guillermo is an innate teacher, both within the office and in academic circles. He regularly mentors young lawyers through the mentoring programs of the Firm and of Abogadas MX. He lectures at the Escuela Libre de Derecho and at the Universidad Panamericana and regularly publishes articles related to banking and finance issues.

He obtained his law degree from the Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City, and a few years later, his Master of Laws Degree from Duke University School of Law where he became a Blue Devil for life.

He spent a year as a foreign associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York City, where he developed several other skills, mostly skateboarding.

He is recognized as expert by Chambers Latin America in the Capital Markets and Banking & Finance practices. Likewise, he has been listed as an expert lawyer in The Legal 500 2023 Latin American Guide in such practices. The French publication Leaders League ranked him as expert in these fields of practice. He is also recognized by Latin Lawyer and IFLR1000 as one of the leading practitioners in Mexico.

Guillermo is member of the Executive Committee of the firm.
