José Mota Soares

José specializes in technical employment law, social security, and collective bargaining with national and international companies in the public and private sectors.

He also provides permanent legal advice to various human resource departments and legal representation in judicial proceedings.

José Mota Soares is a Founding Partner of Andersen Portugal and a member of the European Board of Andersen Global. With a career spanning almost three decades, he has extensive experience advising clients on complex legal and strategic matters across a broad range of industries.

Before co founding Andersen Portugal in 2017, he founded Nobre Guedes, Mota Soares & Associados, where he was Partner between 2006 and 2020. Earlier in his career, he practised law alongside José Robin de Andrade, Fernando Cunha de Sá and Emanuel António de Melo Sousa between 1996 and 1998.

José is admitted to the Portuguese Bar Association since 1997 and holds a Law degree from the Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa. He also completed the academic component of a Master’s degree in Legal Sciences at the same university and holds a postgraduate qualification in Labour Law from the NOVA School of Law.

Secretary General of the Associação Portuguesa de Facility Services, member of the National Evaluation Committee of the Ordem dos Advogados and member of the Commission for the Protection of the Legal Profession within the Portuguese Bar Association. He is also a member of the Associação Portuguesa de Direito do Trabalho.
