Jon Hlafter

Jon Hlafter is the co-head of Skadden's insurance M&A and reinsurance practices. He advises on a wide range of transactions, including public and private mergers and acquisitions, reinsurance, renewal rights purchases, joint ventures, and strategic investments. Mr. Hlafter is a trusted advisor on insurance regulatory issues and has guided clients on complex questions in the evolving nexus between insurance and asset management. He has represented publicly traded insurers and reinsurers in corporate governance and shareholder defense matters. Mr. Hlafter also advises clients on insurance regulatory matters.

Mr. Hlafter's clients include insurers, reinsurers, providers of private capital (including financial sponsors and family offices), service providers (TPAs and MGAs), insurtech companies, and asset managers. He has advised on some of the largest and most significant insurance M&A transactions in the U.S. and Bermuda over the past decade, and has represented a number of insurers and sponsor groups in platform-building transactions and follow-on M&A transactions. Mr. Hlafter has also represented major investment banking firms as financial advisors in insurance M&A transactions.
