James Mazza

Mr. Mazza represents debtors, private credit funds, banks, creditors, asset purchasers, plan sponsors and private equity investors in domestic and cross-border corporate restructuring and financing transactions, both in and out-of-court, involving clients’ interests across the globe with significant experience in Latin America. His experience extends to a wide variety of industries, including airlines, automotive, energy, financial services, health care, gaming, real estate, and retail. Mr. Mazza also regularly advises companies’ management and boards of directors regarding fiduciary duty issues in financially distressed situations. Notable company-side representations include SunEdison, Unifin Financiera, TridentUSA Health Services, Exide, Visteon, Calpine, and United Airlines. Mr. Mazza also has represented various private credit funds in out-of-court and in-court chapter 11 financing and corporate transactions involving numerous airlines, including Abra Group (out-of-court refinancing), AeroMexico (minority DIP lender/equity investor), Avianca Group (DIP refinancing to exit), GOL Linhas Aéreas (exit financing), and Scandinavian Airlines (DIP refinancing to exit with equity and debt components).
