Career

For more than 25 years, chief legal officers and general counsel of public and large private companies have counted on trial lawyer Jim Manley as a trusted advisor and as lead defense counsel in high-exposure, commercial and tort litigation. Jim has extensive experience litigating complex commercial disputes, professional and fiduciary liability matters, and product liability suits involving catastrophic injury and/or extensive property loss. Jim serves on the Georgia Judicial Nominating Commission and routinely acts as a Specially Appointed Attorney General for the Georgia Office of Attorney General.

In his professional and fiduciary liability practice, Jim represents trustees in breach of fiduciary duty suits, and directors and officers in proceedings involving corporate governance and professional duties. Jim also represents directors and officers of financial institutions in suits brought by U.S. federal agencies.

In his product liability practice, Jim defends product liability actions and handles domestic and international product recalls. He also advises manufacturers and retailers regarding risk management, and guides manufacturers in all aspects of product development. He also directs incident investigation teams.
