Isabel Laventure is a partner at FERRERE, where she is a member of the firm’s Tax and Corporate & Commercial teams. Her practice focuses on M&A and complex corporate transactions, strategic tax advice, and private client work for high-net-worth individuals and families.
Isabel has extensive experience advising local and international clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate reorganizations and other strategic transactions, combining her corporate and tax expertise to advise on transaction structuring and implementation. She regularly acts for multinational companies, private equity investors and other sophisticated clients in cross-border and domestic transactions, including Sequoia’s first private equity investment in Latin America.
Her corporate practice also encompasses ongoing strategic advice to multinational and local companies across a broad range of industries, including the negotiation of complex commercial arrangements and the structuring and development of their operations in Uruguay. She has advised leading global technology and digital economy companies, including Google, Airbnb, Sony and HBO, on the legal and tax aspects of their activities in the country.
Isabel also has a significant private client practice, advising high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families with tax residence, assets or other interests in Uruguay. Her work in this area includes cross-border investment structuring, tax and wealth planning and succession and estate planning.
In addition to her transactional and advisory work, Isabel has substantial experience in high-stakes tax controversy and litigation. She has acted in significant proceedings involving the Uruguayan Tax Administration and other public authorities, including matters concerning the attempted shutdown of Uruguay’s largest supermarket chain, state liability arising from changes affecting tax exemptions under the Forestry Law, and challenges before the Administrative Claims Court to regulations governing the taxation of cross-border digital income.

She is the author of articles published in the tax revue Revista Tributaria and other specialized publications. She co-authored an annotated and compared edition of the Uruguayan Customs Code.
She regularly is a speaker at specialized international conferences, and was designated national rapporteur of the Tax Division of the International Bar Association (IBA).
She is member of the Chair of Financial Law at Universidad de Montevideo. Professor of Financial Law, ORT University 2010 - 2019.
