Advising Horse Hill Developments Ltd (part of UK Oil & Gas PLC) in the Supreme Court in relation to a legal challenge concerning the correct application of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process to assessing the ‘downstream’ greenhouse gas emissions from new oil development - R (on the application of Finch on behalf of the Weald Action Group) (Appellant) v Surrey County Council and others (Respondents)
Advising a developer on a contentious housing planning appeal called in by the Secretary of State for his own determination in Cheshire. This involved successfully challenging in the High Court two separate decisions of the Secretary of State dismissing the appeal and two public inquiries following which planning permission was finally granted by the Secretary of State.
Advising JCB on the development of a nationally renowned golf course and country club scheme in Staffordshire.

Grant has extensive experience in the housing, commercial, retail, energy/infrastructure development sectors:
- Handling contentious planning matters representing clients on planning appeals, enforcement proceedings, judicial reviews, high court challenges, compulsory purchase and village greens;
- Advising on development management issues including due process;
- Negotiating s.106 and other infrastructure agreements.
His team’s reputation has been built principally on its strong specialist skills in the chosen sectors enabling it to deliver genuine insight into the issues facing those sectors and to provide technically excellent commercial advice.
Grant’s experience from acting for both the private and public sectors enables him to advise clients and provide a genuine 360 degree perspective with a good understanding of the drivers and key objectives for those respective sectors.
