Elena Coyle is co-head of Skadden’s insurance M&A and reinsurance practices. She advises on a diverse range of complex corporate transactions, reinsurance matters, regulatory representations and strategic initiatives on behalf of insurers in the life and annuity, P&C, health, LTC and surety markets. Ms. Coyle is also a trusted advisor and dealmaker to asset managers and private equity sponsors in acquisitions and investments in the insurance industry, insurtech firms (in particular, in the transition to "full stacked" carriers) and other corporate clients in developing solutions for risk mitigation, including the establishment of captive insurance programs. Ms. Coyle’s deep experience includes mergers, acquisitions and divestitures (both domestic and cross-border), reinsurance, de-SPAC’s, renewal rights transactions, mutual-to-mutual and MHC transactions, intercompany reorganizations and restructurings, sidecars and ILS transactions, and advising clients in evaluating new and emerging transaction structures, including divisions and insurance business transfers.
