With an extensive national litigation practice and more than 30 years serving as lead counsel in more than 125 class action lawsuits and 1,750 individual lawsuits, David N. Anthony defends consumer financial institutions. His highly regulated clients include, but are not limited to consumer reporting agencies, credit furnishers, background screeners, data providers, debt collectors and buyers, lenders, mortgage lenders and servicers, and regional and local banks. His litigation experience is significant as he defends cases related to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and the other numerous federal and state consumer protection statutes. His extensive experience includes matters involving issues of first impression; bet-the-company litigation; class actions lawsuits and mass litigation; Tribal law in the Native American online lending context; and managing the overlap between class action lawsuits and regulatory litigation by federal and state regulators. He is especially seasoned in successfully handling cases in the Eastern District of Virginia, which has unique rules, risks, and pitfalls for defendants.
