David has been at the forefront of the extensive regulatory reforms affecting financial advice services, and has overseen a number of our discretionary investment management services (DIMS) and managed funds projects over the years.

David has extensive experience in liaising with Government and regulatory bodies in relation to the regulation of financial services, including several years serving as chair of the Code Committee appointed by the Financial Markets Authority under the now repealed Financial Advisers Act. In recent years David has been particularly active in relation to the extensive changes to the regulation of financial advice providers and the conduct of financial institutions reforms, assisting several of the firm’s clients in the development of their strategies in response to the new licensing environment and regulator reviews.

David advises both large and boutique providers of investment funds and investment management services, as well as trustees of workplace savings and pension schemes and offshore providers offering funds into New Zealand. He also advises a range of domestic and offshore entities that provide financial products and services into the New Zealand market.
