Stuart co-leads one of the largest specialist construction and major projects team within a law firm in New Zealand. He acts for numerous national and international clients advising on all aspects of construction law.
Stuart’s astute understanding of New Zealand law means he guides his clients through processes that support successful project outcomes.
Stuart works with clients involved in a wide range of projects, from standalone residential developments to large infrastructure projects in the civil, transport, water, electricity and telecommunications sectors. He has experience in resolving multi-party claims and in dealing with disputes involving complex building defects claims.
Where disputes are unavoidable, Stuart provides strategic advice to best resolve those issues and where possible maintain critical relationships. Stuart expertly guides both national and international clients through dispute avoidance and resolution via negotiation, mediation, expert determination, adjudication, arbitration and court proceedings.
Stuart is regularly asked to speak on his knowledge of all standard form contracts, the Building Act 2004, Construction Contracts Act 2002, and the Arbitration Act 1996.
Stuart brings with him nearly 40 years’ experience in the construction and infrastructure sector, 26 years of which have been with Dentons' specialist construction and infrastructure team.
