Chris qualified in 1996 and is routinely instructed in large loss and catastrophic injury cases for motor and liability claims. His work encompasses serious injuries and psychological conditions and has been involved in several notable cases, including the successful defence in the House of Lords decision of Tomlinson v Congleton and Cheshire Borough Councils.

He is an Assistant Coroner for the Manchester South jurisdiction and an appointed arbitrator for the Court of Arbitration of Sport based in Lausanne.

Chris is also a member of the judicial panel for British Swimming and European Swimming.

Experience

• Successful defence of a house owner sued by contractors for GBP 1m+ following an accident during the demolition and reconstruction of a property

• Retained by insurers to act in a claim made by seven claimants suffering catastrophic injuries following a coach crash in Morocco Developing a disease claims outsource scheme for a major global insurer

• Acted on a case involving a claimant who fell from a stand at the Monaco Grand Prix - a £3m reserve case was settled for £1m costs inclusive

• Defeated a claim for spinal injury by a claimant who fell at a climbing/bouldering centre

• Successfully secured the court dismissal of a claim for injuries sustained by a golfer being hit on the head by a golf ball

• Expertise in cases involving allegations of stress, bullying and harassment

• Regularly consulted in amputee cases

• Manages a team winning 82 cases in 2013 saving over GBP 7m for clients

• Retained by leading UK retailers for sector specific expertise
