Career
Chris Browning is a highly experienced appellate advocate and litigator with a strong background in complex commercial litigation, business torts, environmental disputes, and government relations. Chris served for seven years as the first Solicitor General for the State of North Carolina and has argued five times before the United States Supreme Court, as well as multiple arguments before federal circuit courts, the North Carolina Supreme Court and the North Carolina Court of Appeals. His litigation experience includes the trial of a war crimes proceeding before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. Chris is currently serving as Chair of the American Bar Association’s Judicial Division and is one of only a handful non-judges to chair the Judicial Division since it was created in 1913.
