Carlos Brandes, lawyer and notary public, performs his activities mainly in the Litigation Department.

Career

Master in International Law (LLM) at American University, Washington College of Law (2001).

He worked at the legal department of the Inter-American Investment Corporation in Washington, DC (2001-2002).

He is an assistant professor of Procedural Law at Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de la República.

He has attended several courses and seminars in his specialty area. His practice includes law suits in commercial, civil, investment projects and antitrust matters, his expertise being on Commercial and Procedural Law.

Professional Memberships

He was director of Uruguay’s Bar Association from 2010 to 2014 and he was appointed for the 2016-2020 period.

Personal

He has been recognized for several prestigious international legal publications such as “Chambers & Partners" (Band 1), "The Legal 500" and "Latin Lawyer" for his outstanding performance in litigation and arbitration. Carlos has been distinguished as a LACCA Approved 2023 for Litigation.

He was director of Uruguay’s Bar Association from 2010 to 2014 and he was appointed for the 2016-2020 period.
