Specialises in all aspects of public law (commercial, regulatory, education, community care, mental health, local government, coroners, and planning and environmental law) human rights, public procurement, village greens, public inquiries and information law. He practises in English and European courts acting for individuals, public authorities, commercial organisations and NGOs. Notable cases include: R (Bridges) v South Wales Police (Article 8 ECHR and GDPR and automatic face recognition technology in the Court of Appeal), MacDonald v UK (Private life and community care in ECHR), Kennedy v Charity Commission (freedom of information and Article 10 ECHR in the Supreme Court) and R (Plantagenet Alliance) v Secretary of State for Justice and Leicester City Council (challenge to the decision to bury Richard III’s remains in Leicester).
Career
Called to the Bar in 1996. Silk 2018. Prior to taking silk a member of Attorney-General’s ‘A’ Panel of Counsel to the Crown.
