Practice Areas
Zoe’s practice involves litigating catastrophic injury claims. She is a robust trial lawyer and is commonly instructed on cases that are likely to proceed to trial due to credibility issues, complex liability points and/or polarised expert evidence. She is a highly experienced appellate advocate, having conducted appeals in the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. She is also a well-respected negotiator, acting as an independent mediator (mostly in cases involving multiple defendants) and on behalf of clients at JSM.
The type of cases that Zoe deals with range from fatal accidents to brain injuries, amputations, spinal cord injuries and chronic pain disorders. She is the current Head of 9 St John Street’s insurance fraud team. Since the inception of the Criminal Courts and Justice Act 2015, she has secured numerous findings of fundamental dishonesty at trial, including in respect of road traffic accidents, accidents at work, clinical negligence claims and travel law claims. She has a particular interest in cases of exaggerated and fraudulent brain injuries and PTSD. She is regularly instructed to pursue alternative avenues open to insurers, including tort of deceit proceedings and contempt of court proceedings.
