Ziemowit Smulkowski

Ziemowit Smulkowski is a partner in the Tax practice at Paul Hastings in the Chicago office. Ziemowit concentrates his practice in U.S. federal income tax issues related to all aspects of private equity backed investments, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital funds, real estate transactions, and management compensation. He works extensively with the firm’s Finance, Financial Restructuring, Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity practices.

Ziemowit’s representative transactions include acquisitions and dispositions of businesses for both financial and strategic investors, cross-border investments, formation of investment vehicles and financial restructurings for both borrowers and lenders. He has successfully represented numerous private equity funds, senior and mezzanine lenders, sellers of closely held businesses and management teams in connection with the acquisition or disposition of their employers.
