Experience
Dr. Wang joined JT&N as a Senior Partner in January 2010. He specializes in litigation and arbitration involving intellectual property law and civil & commercial law, and is capable of providing comprehensive legal services of a transactional, advisory and contentious nature, to companies in the high-technology, information technology and media and entertainment industries. Before joining JT&N, Dr. Wang was a founding partner of Lifang & Partners.
Intellectual Property
Dr. Wang is a pre-eminent expert in and leading practitioner of Chinese intellectual property (IP) law. He was a member of the Chinese delegation in the Sino-US Intellectual Property Negotiations during 1994-1995, for which service he received a Ministerial-level Commendation. Dr. Wang is not only an expert who has extensive experience devising IP strategies for businesses, but also a seasoned litigator in IP area, who has handled a large number of landmark cases for copyright, trade secret, unfair competition, anti- monopoly, trademark and patent related suits. In the recent three years, Dr. Wang has been rated as one of the Top 15 IP lawyers in China by Asian Legal Business (ALB) for twice (in 2015 and 2017). Moreover, Dr. Wang has also been named as one of the recommendable lawyers in Mainland China by lots of other renowned legal directories, such as LegalBand and MIP. Beyond his legal practice, Dr. Wang has on numerous occasions been invited to deliver lectures to undergraduate and graduate law school students at universities, such as Peking University, Renmin University of China and China University of Political Sciences and Law, and has delivered speeches about Chinese IP law in more than one hundred national and international IP law conferences. Because of years of experience in practicing law and the unique insight of IP law, Dr. Wang has been involved in Chinese legislative efforts. He had participated in the drafting and amendments of judicial interpretations of IP law issued by the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate. Furthermore, Dr. Wang has been commissioned by the Ministry of Public Security to prepare internal guidelines for conducting trade secret investigations and the Shenzhen People’s Procuratorate to research on trade secret protection of high-tech companies in Shenzhen.
Entertainment and New Media
Prior to developing a private practice, Dr. Wang was the chief in-house counsel of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) for nine years, during which he had worked extensively with anti-piracy law, and assisted MPAA members to enter the Mainland China market, such as setting up of joint ventures.
E-commence and Internet Finance
Dr. Wang is a leading practitioner in regulatory matters related to e-commerce and internet finance. In particular, he has been providing legal advice to Ping An Finance’s internet financing platform, Tencent’s Wechat electronic payment platform and the General Administration of Sport of China’s online betting services.
Commercial Litigation and Arbitration
Dr. Wang is an arbitrator at the China International Economic Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) and a specialist in domain name dispute resolution. He had acted as both arbitrator in dozens of arbitrations and counsel to win the belonging of disputed domain names for well-known companies. He also has extensive experience in general civil and commercial litigation, which enable him to provide best solutions for each process of negotiation, contract signing, compliance, and breach of contracts.

■ Represented Kingsoft and Tencent in a series of unfair competition cases against Qihu 360
■ Represented NetEase, Inc. in a trade secret infringement case against a network technology company in Guangzhou and main creators of the game Da Hua Xi You who leaved NetEase
■ Represented Guangdong Luyou Environmental Protection Equipment Co., Ltd. in the patent invalidation process of an invention patent (patent registration number: 200810025603.1)
■ Represented Mindary Biomedical Electronic Co., Ltd. in a retrial case regarding the jurisdictional dispute of the unfair competition against Masimo Corporation
■ Represented Legend Holdings’ Legendstar Venture Capital Co., Ltd. in a creditor’s rights case against Beijing Beike Haoyue Technology Co., Ltd., and successfully compelled the sale of the latter’s university management rights to recover the balance of a loan, being the first case of its kind in the country
■ Instructed to act for Beijing Dragon Figure Science and Technology Co., Ltd. in a trademark and copyright infringement suit with U.S. based Lilyth Games and Valve Corporation regarding “DOTA 2”, and successfully defended the former against applications for interim injunctions
■ Represented Minmetals International Trust Co., Ltd against Wuhan Nintaus Maoshangwu Co., Ltd. in a trusts-related suit before Supreme People’s Court
■ Represented Zhangyue Co., Ltd. in an anti-monopoly suit against Shanghai Xuanting Entertainment Information Technology Co., Ltd.
■ Represented Anglo Franchising Limited Company in a series of administrative cases of trade mark right and recovered the right to use the trade mark of an “eagle” in China, receiving widespread attention from the British commercial circle
