Mr. Zhang widely recognized as one of the leading lawyers in anti-monopoly law, international corporate and investment law, with an active practice advising some of the largest multinational financial and industrial groups in the world. His practice focuses on multi-industry M&A transactions and advice on transactional and regulatory matters for the large companies.
Mr. Zhang has extensive experience advising on M&A matters, as well as structures requiring insolvency protection and solutions. One of the foremost experts on international corporate and investment law in China, Mr. Zhang counts as his clients the most prestigious companies in the world. His clients benefit from his in-depth knowledge of the details and nuances of local PRC laws and regulations, as well as the policies and politics behind promulgated laws and regulations, which together form the regulatory and legal environment facing international companies.
Mr. Zhang specializes in advising industry clients on antitrust and other administrative procedures. Since 2003 he has focused on securing merger clearance for clients and advising on AML compliance issues. Since the enactment of the AML, he continued to be actively involved in advising clients of deal structures from the antitrust perspective; representing clients to obtain antitrust clearance from MOFCOM; providing antitrust and anti-unfair competition compliance advice on business models, distribution arrangements, pricing policies, etc.; conducting antitrust training and in-house audits; advising clients in anti-monopoly administrative proceedings and anti-unfair competition administrative proceedings.
Mr. Zhang also has experience in the fields of corporate governance and compliance. Mr. Zhang often provides compliance advice to clients on a variety matters in relation to commercial bribery, Foreign Exchange, Customs and employment matters.
Mr. Zhang also represents the clients in the hearings before the courts, arbitration tribunal and in alternative dispute resolution procedures, having assisted the clients in resolving dispute matters pertaining to corporate, investments, general commerce, product liability and intellectual property rights.
Before joining JT&N, Mr. Zhang was a Partner of a leading law firm in China. Prior to joining the law firm, Mr. Zhang practiced law in a famous Japanese law firm. He has the Master degree of law from Keio University and the LLB degree of China University of Political science and Law.
