Career
Mr. Yan Wang is qualified to practice law in both the People’s Republic of China and the United States (New York and Washington, D.C.). He has been repeatedly recognized by leading international legal ranking institutions for his outstanding achievements in the fields of intellectual property, antitrust, and complex cross-border dispute resolution.
Mr. Wang serves as a Council Member of the China Intellectual Property Society, where he has played a pivotal role in shaping discussions on the development and modernization of China’s IP legal system. He has built and leads Han Kun’s international IP practice, contributing to the growth of China’s presence in global IP governance and strengthening the interface between domestic innovation and international legal standards.
As a foreign-related IP specialist, Mr. Wang actively engages in international professional dialogue. He has participated in and delivered invited presentations at Federal Circuit Bar Association, The Sedona Conference etc. deepening the exchange of perspectives between Chinese and international legal communities and enhancing the global relevance of Chinese IP practice.
Mr. Wang also served as a part-time lecturer at Peking University, where he taught courses on IP and competition law. By bringing Case 5- Representing the First Major Patent Infringement Dispute in the Aviation Industry Involving High-Value, Cutting-Edge Aerial Products experience and international perspectives into the classroom, he contributes to the development of the next generation of legal talent and helps to build academic-practice integration.
Beyond his professional practice and academic engagement, Mr. Wang plays an active role in the legal professional community, participating in key initiatives of the All China Lawyers Association, where he has delivered keynote remarks and contributed to policy discussions and professional training. Through these efforts, he has made substantial contributions to the advancement of the legal profession and the strengthening of China’s broader legal community.

Experience
Mr. Yan Wang is the founding partner of the Han Kun IP group. Mr. Wang is a seasoned litigator who has spent over 20 years in top U.S. and China law firms guiding both emerging and established companies through IP, antitrust, and other global disputes. Currently he also serves as one of the firm's managing partners and leads the IP group of over 150 professionals.
Yan has considerable experience representing high-profile clients in IP disputes across a diverse portfolio of technologies, including mobile phones, automotives, electronics, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals. His practice also comprehensively spans competition issues, with a particular focus on anti-trust litigations and investigations.
