Susana Afonso is a partner and the head of the Employment and Pensions practice at CMS Portugal. She is experienced in advising multinational companies with a wide range of employment matters in relation to establishing operations in Portugal or harmonising their staff conditions in line with international organisational schemes, including in relation to remuneration and benefits policies, working hours and other aspects.

Susana has a particularly impressive track record in major restructuring exercises and redundancy programmes, collective bargaining, as well as union negotiations and pensions issues. In recent years, she has participated in and coordinated some of the most important restructuring processes in Portugal, notably in the financial, insurance, industrial, construction, aviation, retail, pharmaceutical and services sectors.

She has been recognised as an expert in her field by the Portuguese Bar Association and her expertise in staff restructuring processes has been widely recognised.
