Subhojit is a resident Partner in the CAM-Middle East office in Abu Dhabi. He specialises in financing and infrastructure, having spent more than 15 years in the Firm’s Mumbai office.
He has worked on a wide range of transactions in banking, projects, project financing, structured financing and debt restructuring across various sectors including Renewables, Road, Real Estate, Ports, EVs.
Relevant Experience:
Subhojit has worked on and led a number of marque and award-winning deals, including:
• Financing availed by Renew Hans Urja Private Limited, by way of a yen-denominated external commercial borrowing, in relation to the development, operation and maintenance of 600 MW (AC) capacity solar photo voltaic generation facility in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The deal won the PFI’s India Deal of the Year 2024.
• Financing the acquisition of majority stake in R Systems International Limited by Blackstone Group entity BCP Asia II Topco II Pte. Ltd. The deal won M&A Deal of the Year (Midsize) at the ALB India Law Awards 2024.
• Financing of the first round-the clock renewable power generation being developed by a special purpose vehicle set up by Renew Power Limited. The deal won the PFI Deal of the Year 2023, APLMA Renewable Energy Deal of the Year 2023, Asia Pacific Deal of the Year 2023 and the Renewable Deal of the Year in the Asset Triple A Sustainable Infrastructure Awards 2023.
• Financing electric bus project for GreenCell Express Private Limited. The deal won Transport Deal of the Year – Electric Mobility at the Asset Triple A Sustainable Infrastructure Awards 2023.
• External commercial borrowing and domestic financing availed by an entity of Softbank Group (subsequently acquired by Adani Group) from various lenders for the purpose of 600MW solar power project being developed in Rajasthan. The deal won for ‘Deals of the Year - Project Finance’ by IFLR1000 2021 and won PFI Indian Green Deal of the Year (2020-21).
• External commercial borrowing availed by Vena Energy Shivalik Wind Power Private Limited from Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited and DBS Bank Limited for development of 96.8MW wind energy project in Gujarat, India. The deal was nominated for ‘Deals of the Year- Project Finance’ by IFLR1000 2021.
• Advising the lenders in the first road financing under the TOT (toll, operate, transfer) model in 2018, being awarded by the NHAI. The deal was the largest financing in the road sector and won several awards and accolades, including the ASIA-MENA Counsel ‘Deal of the Year’ award, 2018.
