Gokul has over 21 years of experience in corporate and securities law. He has advised issuers and underwriters on a variety of marque equity and debt capital market transactions across jurisdictions, including initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, qualified institutions placements and international and domestic bond issuances. He has worked on the largest and most significant IPOs in India, including Hyundai Motor India, Life Insurance Corporation of India, Zomato, Swiggy, SBI Cards and Payments, etc. In addition, he has worked on landmark cross-border transactions such as the DeSpac of Renew Power, HYB issuances by Renew Power, Network I2I (guaranteed by Bharti Airtel), Biocon Biologics, etc.

Gokul has previously worked with Linklaters, Singapore, as part of their India-facing capital markets practice and has advised on capital markets transactions in South-East Asia as well. He also has experience in privatisation, joint ventures, private equity investments and general corporate law.

He has a B.A. LLB from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, and an LLM from the Northwestern University, Chicago.

Gokul has advised on significant and landmark transactions over his career. Recent highlights include the largest and most significant initial public offerings in India in recent years by Hyundai Motor India and Swiggy in 2024, Life Insurance Corporation of India (“LIC”) in 2022 and Zomato in 2021. He has also acted on the QIP of Samvardhana Motherson in 2024 and the initial public offering by SBI Cards & Payments in 2020, the largest pure-play credit card company in India. On the international front, Gokul has acted on the issuance of subordinated perpetual securities by Network I2I, guaranteed by Bharti Airtel in 2019 (the first of its kind), as well as multiple offshore bond issuances by ReNew Power Limited (including through its subsidiaries). His portfolio of unique transactions includes advising ReNew Power Limited, in connection with its listing on NASDAQ through the SPAC route. ReNew Power Limited is the first Indian renewable energy company to be listed on NASDAQ through the SPAC route.

He has also advised the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, on a series of further fund offerings (FFOs) under the Central Public Sector Enterprises Exchange Traded Fund (CPSE ETF) Scheme between 2017 and 2020, aggregating INR 548.50 billion. Gokul also regularly advises CPSEs on MTN issuances, including recent programme establishments, updates and drawdowns by IRFC, PFC and REC.
