Amey routinely advises key Indian financial institutions, multinational banks, and multilateral lending agencies with respect to financing of various infrastructure projects in the airport, power, telecom, oil & gas and road sectors in India.
He joined the erstwhile Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. in 1997 and became Partner in 2008.
Relevant experience:
• Haldia Petrochemicals Limited (The Chatterjee Group), in structuring of the transaction for acquisition of Lummus Technology from McDermott International. The acquisition was undertaken by The Chatterjee Group jointly along with investment funds affiliated with Rhône Capital.
• Murugappa Group led Tube Investments in acquisition of 56% stake in CG Power.
• State Bank of India in relation to formulation and implementation of a resolution plan involving change of management and ownership, and settlement of the outstanding debt facilities of Prayagraj Power Generation Company Limited, a large stressed thermal power projects in India.
• UCO Bank in relation to the term loan facility availed by Capri Global Capital Limited, a NBFC for an amount aggregating to USD 3.5 billion for the purpose of onward lending to its NBFC Business.
• Indian Oil Corporation Limited in relation to issuance of USD 900 million 4.75 percent notes due 2024 (Issuance). The same was listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange.
• Gateway Distriparks Limited in connection with the issuance of listed NCDs aggregating to INR 550 crores in 13 series, on private placement basis through the electronic book mechanism.
• ICICI Bank Limited the rupee term loan facility of an amount of INR 200 crore extended to Adani CMA Mundra Terminal Private Limited for the purpose of part financing the capital expenditure, incurred or to be incurred by the Borrower for setting up of a container terminal at the port located at Mundra, Gujarat and other transaction related cost.
• Vijaya Bank in relation to the term loan facility availed by Capri Global Capital Limited, a non-banking financial company for an amount aggregating to USD 7 million for the purpose of onward lending to its NBFC Business.
• Axis Bank Limited with respect to the INR 246 Crores facility extended to Adani CMA Mundra Terminal Private Limited to be utilised for Project Cost, reimbursement of capital expenditure incurred for the Project, payment of costs and expenses incurred by the Borrower towards the Project; and refinancing of certain existing trade credit raised for the Project.
• IDBI Bank Limited and the Government of India in relation to the proposed acquisition by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) of 51% stake in IDBI Bank accompanied by control.
• Yes Bank Limited in relation to the financing of India’s first national highway project undertaken on Toll, Operate and Transfer (TOT) basis comprising of 9 national highway stretches (Bundle-1) in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Gujarat to be undertaken by 9 SPVs promoted by Macquarie Asia Infrastructure Investments 2 Pte. Ltd. (Macquarie Group). This financing is in relation to a project which is one of the largest foreign direct investments in public infrastructure in India and the single largest in the India’s road sector.
