Serena specialises in all areas of employment law and has experience of judicial reviews. She has represented clients in the Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeal Tribunal, County Court and High Court.
Serena is frequently led by senior members of Chambers. Her led work includes the following:
•Successfully represented Mrs Parmar in the EAT and Court of Appeal, led by Deshpal Panesar KC, in Leicester City Council v Parmar [2025] I.R.L.R. 782.
•A successful judicial review of The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses (Amendment) Regulations 2022 in R (ASLEF and others, UNISON and the NASUWT) v The Secretary of State for Business and Trade [2023] I.R.L.R. 823 (led by Michael Ford KC and Stuart Brittenden KC).
•A judicial review of The Restriction of Public Sector Exit Payments Regulations 2020, causing the Government to withdraw the Regulations shortly before the case was heard by the High Court (led by Michael Ford KC and Stuart Brittenden KC)
•Successfully defended strike out applications in a matter involving complex contractual arguments brought by seven claimants in a high value claim in the High Court, led by Jack Mitchell. The final hearing is scheduled for 2026.
•Serena drafted pleadings for Oliver Segal KC in a case involving more than 2,000 claimants bringing claims of unlawful inducement and trade union detriment.
•Serena was led by Rebecca Tuck KC and Laith Dilaimi in Bamieh v Foreign & Commonwealth Office (ET Case No 2200909/2015) when it was remitted to the Employment Tribunal by the Court of Appeal (settled).
