Pete serves as lead counsel and as a trusted advisor to clients in a wide range of intellectual property matters, including high-tech patent infringement disputes, patent licensing disputes, trade secret disputes, and various other commercial litigation, routinely working directly with corporate litigation heads. Pete also serves as the global chair of Reed Smith’s Intellectual Property Group.

Leveraging his background in electrical and computer engineering, Pete effectively represents high-tech clients in a range of technologies, including microprocessors and graphics processors, integrated circuits, computers, liquid crystal displays, data storage and retrieval, cellular and other telecommunications, software, Internet technology, electrical technologies, energy, chemical processing, health care, payroll and benefits processing, semiconductor processing, medical devices, oilfield technology, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and mechanical devices, among others.

Pete has served as lead counsel in numerous patent and commercial cases in U.S. district courts, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. International Trade Commission, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Pete also represents clients in transactional matters, including IP licensing, reorganizations and joint ventures, technology transfers, IP audits, and comprehensive reviews in asserting and defending against patent portfolios.
