Nicola specialises in employment, discrimination, industrial relations and professional discipline, as well as undertaking related work in the fields of judicial review, human rights and data protection. Nicola practises in all sectors but has particular expertise in the healthcare and legal sectors. Nicola has appeared before all the major healthcare regulators and in many of the leading doctor and dentist cases, before both the High Court and Court of Appeal, including bringing appeals against, and resisting appeals by, regulators and brining and defending contractual claims based upon MHPS (Maintaining High Professional Standards in the Modern NHS). Nicola often advises in respect judicial review proceedings involving regulators and other public bodies. She has appeared in judicial review proceedings in the High Court, Court of Appeal and before the Privy Council, including cases involving discrimination and data protection issues. Nicola regularly appears before the Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal. She was junior counsel for UNISON before the Supreme Court in Agnew v Chief Constable of Northern Ireland. Nicola also has extensive experience of complex discrimination claims (both employment tribunal and county court) and of multi-claimant and collective disputes.
