Michael studied in Munich and Tübingen. He holds a summa-cum-laude doctorate degree, a master of laws degree from Columbia and a maîtrise-en-droit degree from the Aix-en-Provence University. Michael worked for five years at Simpson Thacher in New York and one year for Bredin Prat in Paris before joining Freshfields in 2010.
