Maurits specialises in EU and competition law. He advises on cartel and abuse of dominance matters, cross‑border merger control, investment screening (FDI), subsidies regulation (FSR) and state aid. He represents clients before competition authorities and courts and assists in regulatory investigations, supported by experience gained at the Dutch Competition Authority (ACM).
His practice has a strong focus on strategic collaborations and M&A and covers a range of sectors, in particular private equity, mobility services, IT/Tech, energy and healthcare/life sciences. As part of Van Doorne’s leading Healthcare & Life Sciences team, he is the firm’s primary contact for competition law in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, advising on mergers, partnerships and regulatory issues.
In addition, he is actively engaged in policy development , including work with trade organisations and discussions with policymakers. He publishes regularly and teaches competition law to MBA students and provides training to private‑practice and in‑house lawyers.
