Career

Since 1985, Meg has focused her practice on vigorously representing the interests of management in all aspects of employment law. Named one of the top 50 female lawyers in Michigan, Meg defends and advises employers concerning the umbrella of employment laws and regulations affecting corporate clients, not-for-profit organizations and educational institutions. Her extensive experience allows Meg to provide strategic and practical advice in either the courtroom or the boardroom.

Ranked by Chambers USA and regularly recognized by Best Lawyers, including as a “Lawyer of the Year” for 2023, Meg has become a core legal advisor to numerous business leaders in Michigan and elsewhere on the entire spectrum of employment law. She regularly defends employers in employment litigation in both state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration proceedings. Among other things, Meg advises on complex wage and hour requirements under state and federal law. She leads the defense of collective actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), as well as class challenges to a myriad of pay practices. A particular focus of Meg’s practice has been to assist employers in properly classifying workers as employees or independent contractors, as well as conducting detailed audits relative to employee wage classifications and pay practices under federal and state law. In addition to spending more than 30 years defending employers in numerous federal and state courts on discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims, Meg also has extensive experience on compliance issues. She regularly designs company policies and procedures on a vast array of employment topics in an effort to reduce management exposure to claims through proactive initiatives. To further this, Meg is a frequent lecturer to management groups, professional associations and educational institutions on employment topics and preventative measures.
