Laura Kingsley Hong is a trial lawyer with nearly 40 years of uninterrupted experience defending class action, mass and toxic tort, product, and commercial litigation. She has tried several cases to verdict (including two jury trial wins in 2022), arbitrated before the AAA, and presented testimony before Ohio’s General Assembly as well as the United States Senate Judiciary Committee.
Laura recently completed her seven-year term as Chair of the firm’s Mass Tort Product Liability Group. She serves as national, trial, and local counsel for many companies. Laura tries cases and manages and assists local counsel, insurance companies, and corporations in the defense of mass and toxic tort and product liability claims. In addition to trying cases, Laura has led and executed novel briefing strategies that have resulted in numerous favorable summary adjudication and dismissals.
Laura is a life member of both the Sixth Circuit and Eighth District Judicial Conferences. She is a member of the John M. Manos Inn of Court and an inductee of Case Western Reserve University School of Law’s Society of Benchers. She is a past president of the Asian American Bar Association of Ohio, the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and the Northern District of Ohio Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Laura is a former professor of trial tactics and a frequent presenter on trial strategies as well as ethics. For several years and continuing, Laura volunteers in both Ohio and Georgia with Election Protection, a bipartisan organization protecting the vote. Most recently, to raise consciousness on wrongful convictions, Laura is involved in fundraising for the opera production of Blind Injustice, which will be performed at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square in July 2025. The Opera recounts the stories of six exonerees through blues, jazz, rap, and gospel.
