Kurt Retter heads the firmwide regulatory team and specialises in various fields of constitutional, administrative and EU law including: life sciences, insurance, infrastructure, regulated industries (energy, telecommunications, media and rail), foreign direct investments (FDI), sanctions and export control, public entities and governmental affairs, banking and finance, planning and environmental law, gambling, compliance, citizenship, data protection, defence, aviation, as well as private clients.
Career
Partner, Wolf Theiss, since 2001; admitted in Austria, since 2001. Kurt started his career teaching constitutional and administrative law at the University of Vienna (1990-1996), before working as an associate for a large Vienna law firm (1996-1999) and gaining valuable business experience in the insurance sector as chief of staff of the CEO of the Austrian subsidiaries of Allianz insurance (2000/2001). Due to his strong academic as well as practical experience in public law matters, Kurt has also been appointed some years ago as a member of the board of the renowned Austrian society "Forschungen aus Staat und Recht". In addition, he is a member of the management board of the "Vienna Philharmonics Private Foundation".
