Kay-Jannes Wegner is a dual-qualified civil and common law practitioner with more than 25 years’ experience in international arbitration. He has acted across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East in high-stakes, multi-jurisdictional disputes, regularly managing large, cross-border teams and complex expert evidence. His practice spans the full dispute lifecycle—from strategic risk management and early case assessment through to final hearings and enforcement—under the rules of the leading arbitral institutions and in ad hoc proceedings.
Kay-Jannes advises clients including multinational corporates and state-owned entities in contentious matters arising from defence, construction and infrastructure, defence, power and energy (including conventional and renewables), shipbuilding and offshore, life sciences and pharmaceuticals, telecoms and technology, automotive, and commodities trading. His experience includes disputes involving major EPC and long-term supply contracts, shareholder and joint venture issues, post-M&A claims, and high-value equipment performance and warranty disputes. In addition to his counsel practice, he regularly sits as arbitrator.
Kay-Jannes is recognised for delivering practical, outcome-oriented solutions. He has practised in London, South Korea, and Singapore and is fluent in navigating cross-cultural negotiations and proceedings across common and civil law systems.

Mr. Wegner is German and English qualified and member of the ITA Board of country reporters as a reporter for Korea contributing summaries of Korean court decisions and other developments. He is appointed as Trustee to the Board of Directors of the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea. In March 2017, he was awarded a Commendation by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Korea in recognition of his service to the promotion of the arbitration industry in Korea.
