Katie represents health care providers, suppliers, manufacturers and associations on regulatory issues under Medicare and Medicaid rules and health care fraud and abuse laws, including anti-kickback, physician self-referral, beneficiary inducement and the False Claims Act. She is a member of Reed Smith’s Life Sciences Health Industry Group in Washington, D.C..
Katie also assists clients with internal and external investigations and litigation matters relating to health care fraud and abuse issues. Additionally, she works with clients to develop, implement and monitor health care fraud and abuse and corporate compliance programs.
She also regularly counsels pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers regarding federal and state marketing restrictions and reporting requirements, including the “Sunshine” provisions of the Affordable Care Act, known as the Physician Payment Sunshine Act.
