Career
For more than 25 years, Mr. Póvoa has been providing specialised legal advice on labour matters, serving clients in various sectors such as construction, education, energy, and trade. He was responsible for the creation of Bichara Advogados' labour area, and besides managing the growth of the firm, he contributed to the firm's recognition as one of the leading law firms in Brazil.
He is recognized for the extremely credible work of the practice, with a solid conceptual basis, and for being a respected professional.
Professional Memberships
In addition to his legal practice, João is heavily involved in public service and social causes. He is a member of the Rio de Janeiro City Council for the 2021-2024 and 2025-2028 terms and was president of the Business Law Alliance (ALAE). He also does pro bono work as an advisor to Instituto Refazer, a non-profit organization that supports low-income children referred by Instituto Fernandes Figueira, a hospital specializing in maternal and child health.
Publications
He is the author and co-author of articles published in the press that address important issues in the labor area, such as labor reform, the new NR-1, social protection, and the inclusion of people with disabilities in the labor market.

- Mr. Póvoa led a case related to the analyze of the Remuneration Policy designed by the Client from the perspective of labor legislation and SUSEP Resolution No. 476/2021 and prepared a detailed opinion indicating possible risks and ways to provide greater legal certainty considering the rules set forth in the Resolution.
