Practice Areas
Jennifer Permesly advises clients on global strategies for addressing their cross-border disputes and represents them in commercial arbitrations, with a particular emphasis in the finance, M&A, mining, construction, and renewable energy sectors. She also has significant experience representing investors and sovereigns in investment treaty arbitrations and in matters involving the US Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act. Fluent in Spanish, she often handles disputes involving Latin America. She regularly speaks and writes on developments in international arbitration. She currently serves as the Diversity and Inclusion officer on the International Bar Association’s (IBA) Arbitration Committee, and previously co-chaired IBA's Insolvency and Arbitration group, which published a Toolkit for addressing the intersection of arbitration and insolvency (the Toolkit received Global Arbitration Review's award for Best Innovation of 2021). She also acts as an arbitrator, is a member of the New York International Arbitration Center's Board of Directors, and chaired the American Society of International Law’s 2023 Annual Meeting.
