Jeffery Schaffart

Jeff Schaffart works with private equity sponsors, corporate leaders, and business owners to navigate complex tax matters, focusing on structuring transactions that deliver efficient, practical results. As chair of the firm’s Tax Practice Group, he is known for his deep technical knowledge and his ability to translate sophisticated tax issues into clear, actionable guidance.

Jeff’s practice centers on corporate and partnership tax planning, including the design and execution of tax-efficient strategies for mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions. He regularly counsels clients on both taxable and tax-free structures, such as equity rollovers, reorganizations, recapitalizations, spin-offs, and asset and stock acquisitions. He also works closely with private equity clients on fund structuring and operational tax considerations throughout the lifecycle of their investments.

In addition to his transactional work, Jeff advises on broader tax-driven initiatives at both the state and client level. He was instrumental in the development and implementation of Nebraska’s pass-through entity tax framework and frequently counsels clients on qualified opportunity funds and capital gain deferral strategies.
