Frederick Robinson

Rick is a partner in Reed Smith’s Life Sciences Health Industry Group. He represents a wide variety of health care and life science companies in government investigations, including administrative audits, False Claims Act litigation and white-collar criminal cases.

Rick’s clients include health systems and hospitals, academic medical centers (both public and private) and faculty practice plans, medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers, retail pharmacies and wholesalers, long-term care providers, clinical laboratories, multi-specialty physician groups, and individual physicians.

He combines the skills he developed as a trial lawyer with a broad knowledge of administrative law and health care regulations.

Rick also represents major corporations and their officers in white-collar criminal cases, including high-profile public corruption cases. His diverse cases cover Medicare and Medicaid billing rules, Anti-Kickback and Stark Law compliance, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and similar anti-corruption legislation overseas, government contracts and grants, research integrity and human subject protections, and FDA approvals and clearances. Rick helps clients to design regulatory compliance programs and advises them on a multitude of voluntary disclosure issues. In addition, he has represented many clients in litigation affirmatively challenging regulations and policies adopted by government agencies.
