Practice Areas
Emily is a specialist in clinical negligence, personal injury, and inquests, acting predominantly for claimants and bereaved families. Her practice is focused on complex and sensitive cases involving children, obstetric and maternity care, and those with a mental health component.
Her clinical negligence and personal injury caseload is extensive, encompassing catastrophic and life-changing injuries such as neonatal deaths, stillbirths, acquired brain injuries, cauda equina syndrome, gynaecological injuries, and delayed cancer diagnoses. She is experienced in representing families following the suicide of both detained and community patients.
Emily has significant expertise in Article 2 and jury inquests, providing seamless representation for families through to subsequent civil proceedings. Highlighting her expertise, she recently acted for the family of a baby who died aged six days from HIE following an undiagnosed uterine rupture. She successfully secured a finding of neglect, with the coroner identifying seven gross failings in the care provided.
Emily’s aptitude for advocacy was recognised throughout her studies. An accomplished mooter, she served as Mistress of the Moots during her undergraduate degree and was later awarded an Excellence Scholarship from BPP University. She went on to achieve an Outstanding grade on her BPTC and a Distinction in her LLM. Before joining Chambers, she supported vulnerable individuals by representing them in welfare payment appeals at the Avon & Bristol Law Centre.
