David B Whelpley Jr

David is a partner in the firm’s M&A and Corporate Transactions practice. David is the former head of the firm’s Energy, Private Equity and M&A Department and focuses his practice on international and domestic mergers & acquisitions; joint ventures; corporate finance (including representing borrowers in various loan structures); and commercial transactions. He represents publicly-traded and privately held companies in leveraged buy-outs; strategic joint ventures; recapitalizations; Section 363 asset acquisitions; private equity financings; secured and unsecured public, privately placed senior, mezzanine, and second-lien financings; commercial trade financings; and letters of credit transactions. David's industries of focus include international and domestic transportation (commercial aircraft and trucking), manufacturing, chemicals, real estate investment, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.

Advises non-profit groups in connection with OFAC Cuba Licensing; corporate counsel to numerous non-profit serving educational and physical needs; former advisor to the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits and the Trust for Public Lands
