Daniel Herman

Dan is one of the country’s leading catastrophic injury solicitors. In addition to leading the Personal Injury department at Stewarts, he also regularly provides training and thought leadership to other claimant lawyers.

For the last 25 years, Dan has only acted for clients with very serious injuries. Most of his clients sustained a spinal cord injury or a brain injury. Dan has been involved in more than 70 cases in which his client received compensation of £1m or more.

Dan’s focus is always on achieving the best outcome for clients, not just in relation to the ultimate compensation award at the end of the case, but also in terms of early access to rehabilitation and funding to purchase equipment, pay for care, buy and adapt accommodation, and generally ensure clients have the help they need to adjust to life after injury.

Since 2022 he has been Head of Personal Injury with responsibility for ensuring the service we provide to all the department’s clients – and the results we obtain for them – remains second to none.

Daniel joined Stewarts in 2000. He has been a partner and head of the Leeds office since 2003. In 2022, he took over as Head of Personal Injury.

Dan has spoken at many conferences relating to spinal cord injury and brain injury. He has appeared on television and radio, both to talk about cases in which he has acted, and also to discuss personal injury law in more general terms.

Dan is a football fan: as well as being a Manchester United season ticket holder, he also coaches a junior football team. When given the chance, he relaxes in Cornwall and Croatia.
