Carolyn is a children law expert and practices exclusively within that field. Her public law practice has a particular emphasis on cases concerning non-accidental injury which are often serious and medically complex. She acts for both local authorities and respondents. Carolyn also has vast experience of highly contentious private law children cases. She regularly conducts lengthy hearings in all levels of court up to and including the High Court and the Court of Appeal, often against or with leading counsel. She is well known for her excellent client care, scrupulous preparation and intrepid advocacy. Notable cases include: A Local Authority v A and Others  EWHC 1982 (Fam); and Re G (Children) (Residence: Same Sex Partner)  EWCA Civ 462. Carolyn regularly lectures in-house on all aspects of children law for both private clients and local authorities.
Called to the Bar in 1995. Currently Head of the Family Law Group and Deputy Head of St Philips Chambers.
