Gavin is an established junior who specialises in traditional Chancery proceedings, being typically as respects trusts, contentious probate and inheritance disputes, as well as TOLATA, easement, covenant and other real property claims. Beyond this, he undertakes contract, commercial and tort cases raising various issues. He is also instructed in matters concerning professional negligence, including allegations against solicitors undertaking real estate and private client work. Notable and reported cases include Parker v Parker-Bowyer [2024] WTLR 1509 (successful appearance at trial of much publicised constructive trust claim between father and son), Colbourne v Cooke [2023] WTLR 43 (extension of time for Inheritance Act proceedings), Fairpark v Heals [2022] 1 WLR 3931 (stays of proceedings for arbitration) and Gavriel v Davis [2022] WTLR 943 (remuneration of executors/summary determination of Part 8 claims).
Graduated with First Class Honours in Law from the University of Nottingham, followed by the Cambridge LLM. Called to the Bar (Gray's Inn), July 2010, with scholarship for the Bar year. Full member of STEP. Recipient of a STEP Global Excellence Award.
