Carol is global chair of Reed Smith’s Business and Finance Department, where she leads a team of over 800 attorneys who provide transactional, finance, and counseling services to clients across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. She is also a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and Senior Management Team.
In her personal practice, Carol advises health care, life sciences, and private equity clients on the regulatory requirements and business considerations in connection with health care transactions, including mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, public offerings, investments in health care companies, and financing transactions. Her extensive health regulatory experience helps guide the parties on due diligence, change of ownership issues, regulatory approvals, and related regulatory issues. In addition, she guides clients on compliance with physician self-referral and anti-kickback laws, and with beneficiary inducement and exclusion issues, and she represents clients in payor audits and False Claims Act investigations and proceedings.
Carol is recognized as a leading lawyer in health care law and as providing exceptionally high levels of client service by a number of leading legal directories and business publications.
